Greg Hughes steps down from Inland Port Authority Board

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (News4Utah) –  Utah Speaker of the House Greg Hughes is stepping down from the Inland Port Authority board.

He will be replaced by Representative Francis Gibson (R – District 65).

Governor Gary Herbert said, “We appreciate Speaker Hughes’ desire to have a successful inland port in Utah. We respect his decision to step aside from the Inland Port Authority Board at this time.”

Hughes appointed himself to the board as one of his final acts as Speaker of the House. That accompanied by accusations of conflicts of interest prompted some to call for his resignation from the board.

Alliance for a Better Utah issued the following statement:

“We’re pleased to see Speaker Hughes following the letter of the law by resigning from his self-appointed position on the Inland Port Authority.
