Alliance For Better Utah Calls for Accountability From Legislators Over Amendment D

Salt Lake City, UT – Alliance for a Better Utah, the SLC-based political accountability group, issued the following statement in support of the lawsuit to remove Amendment D from the Utah ballot this November.

Jeff Merchant, Executive Director for Alliance for a Better Utah, issued the following statement:

“We have seen an unprecedented level of sly and deceptive behavior from Republican legislative leadership these last few weeks, all at the cost of the people they claim to represent. It is unconscionable that legislators not only rammed through a sloppy amendment in August’s special session and abused their emergency powers to call that session, but also published deceptive language mischaracterizing that amendment. We need to hold them accountable, now and during the election, for their attempt to steal power from the people of Utah.

We are grateful for the plaintiffs who continue to stand for Utahns’ rights, and hope that the lawsuit is ultimately successful.”
