How Legislators Voted on Amendment D

Back in August, lawmakers misused emergency powers to call a “special session” in the August Interim Session. This resulted in lawmakers proposing a constitutional amendment to overturn the recent Supreme Court decision by adding language that gives not only the state Legislature, but also local legislative bodies, the unrestricted right to amend or repeal initiatives approved by voters: Constitutional Amendment D.

Below, you can view:

What You Can Do About It:

We talk a lot about accountability here at Better Utah. We believe that individuals are responsible for their actions, and if that individual chooses unfavorable actions, they will face consequences.

All too often we see those in positions of power escape accountability. Legislators ultimately derive their power from the people, supported by Utah’s Constitution. We have the right as Americans and Utahns to elect representatives that look out for our wellbeing, and vote out those who aren’t .
