Press Release: Better Utah calls for resignation of Kaysville Mayor Katie Witt

PRESS RELEASE
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: May 18, 2020

Salt Lake City, UT – Today, in response to Mayor Katie Witt’s plan to hold a free concert in Kaysville, Alliance for a Better Utah called for her resignation. The concert would likely break state health guidelines during the Covid-19 outbreak, and could put the health and lives of Utahns at risk.

Chase Thomas, Better Utah executive director, issued the following statement:

“Mayor Witt should resign for moving forward with this dangerous political stunt. It is bad enough that any elected official would show such little regard for the health and safety of the people they were elected to serve. In this case, with a primary election for federal office just around the corner, Mayor Witt is sacrificing public health in her community to further her own political ambitions. Mayor Witt’s flagrant disregard for public health is a disqualifier for public service.”
