Good government groups to petition Gov. Herbert to appoint interim AG

Salt Lake City — Two good government groups are joining forces today to deliver a letter to Gov. Gary Herbert, asking him to appoint an interim attorney general who will not stand for reelection in November 2014.

Both Utahns for Ethical Government and the Alliance for a Better UTAH have a history of supporting strong ethics reform. The groups see former Attorney General John Swallow’s resignation as a chance to press the governor to support stronger election laws.

What: Representatives from Utahns for Ethical Government and the Alliance for a Better UTAH will hand deliver a letter to Governor Herbert, petitioning him to appoint an interim attorney general who will not stand for reelection in November 2014. After which they will be available to discuss the contents of the letter and why they are working together.
